Are the VoiceWorks and Florida Probe Systems voice-activated? VoiceWorks is voice-activated and automatically records exam data when the clinician speaks into a wireless headset. It works with any periodontal probe. The Florida Probe System enters all data by Footswitch using the Dolphin Disposable Handpiece or the FP Handpiece. The FP32 software used in both systems has a customizable voice call-out scheme so that the patient can hear the data as it is entered into the chart.
How is the Florida Probe System Footswitch used? Measurements and other data are recorded when the user taps one of the three pedals on the Footswitch. Tapping the “undo” button on the Footswitch can erase any mistakes.
Are the VoiceWorks and Florida Probe Systems only used in perio offices? No, since the yearly periodontal exam is a standard of care for both specialists and general dentists, both Systems are most widely used by general dentists and hygienists.
Will both Systems bridge to my practice management software? Yes, both the VoiceWorks and Florida Probe systems bridge to most practice management software.
How do the Systems connect to my computer? VoiceWorks uses a small USB receiver (which connects to a USB port on your computer) to communicate with the wireless headset. The Florida Probe system connects to any computer through a simple USB interface and cable (both provided with the System).
Will the FP32 Software work on our office network? Yes, the FP32 Software (used in both the VoiceWorks and Florida Probe Systems) can be installed on every computer in the office to view patient charts and visit info, print charts and handouts, or watch the Patient Education Movies.
What parameters of periodontal disease can the FP32 software record? The FP32 Software can record the main parameters of periodontal disease, including pocket depth, bleeding, suppuration, recession, hyperplasia, furcation, plaque, mobility, missing teeth, changes in dentition, minimal/no attached gingiva, MGJ, risk factors, and medical alerts. You can choose to enter as much or as little data as you wish, including the diagnosis.
How long does it usually take to learn how to use VoiceWorks?Individualized web training (provided by a Registered Dental Hygienist) takes about one hour per person and then expect to put in two practice charts before you start charting with real patients.
How long does it usually take to learn how to use the Florida Probe System? The System comes with a full day of on-site training and installation. There is a ten patient learning curve and we will be with you for 3-4 of those on training day.
How long does it take to do an exam using VoiceWorks? The same amount of time it takes two people (one charting, one probing) to do a traditional periodontal exam (about 5-7 minutes). This allows the clinician to perform an exam without having to pull other staff members away from their other important duties. Patients engage with the exam as they see and hear their probing numbers and warning sounds from the software and ask how they can improve their periodontal health.
How long does it take to do an exam using the Florida Probe System? The same amount of time it takes two people (one charting, one probing) to do an exam with a traditional probe (about 6-8 minutes). A comprehensive exam usually takes 14-18 minutes. It is not faster because it is computer-integrated, but by using the System, you have the ability to educate and motivate the patient to accept soft tissue therapy, which increases standard of care, production as a whole, and ultimately, your bottom line.
How do I sterilize the FP Handpieces? The FP Handpieces are steam sterilizable (just place them in the autoclave). The Florida Probe System comes with 3 Handpieces, each lasting 3 years on average. The Dolphin Disposable Handpieces are single-use and disposable. Unwrap and use a new Dolphin for every new patient exam.
